Tips to take care of babies who suffer from flue frequently
As
soon as a new born baby arrives on this earth, it has to struggle to adapt with
the environment. It may cause him/her to experience a variety of complications.
Catching cold, fever or flu is always dangerous to your baby. A little cold or
cough may sometimes lead to the death of a child. Up to the age of five, a
child remains vulnerable to cold, especially during seasonal changes.
Some
common causes of flu:
·
Flu may spread from
any member of the family who got infected by virus led cold.
·
Environmental
issues like fume and smoke from streets and vehicles may cause flu.
·
Cigarette smoke
affects a baby passively and may lead to flu.
·
Babies who did not
get breast milk and experienced malnutrition may become vulnerable to cold and
fever or flu.
·
Being in an
excessively cool environment like that created by air conditioning or fan may
cause flu.
·
Having the baby
wear clothes all the time may cause him/her to sweat a lot and catch cold from
that. Environment that is either too much cold or hot is harmful.
How to
take care of babies with flu
Allow the baby to take rest:
Vaccination
may cause fever. Do not cover your baby with too much of clothing. Do not let
him/her sweat because of too much clothing.
Breastfeeding:
Continue
to breastfeed your child up to the first six months. After that, you can give
some other things simultaneously including water, healthful liquids or soft
foods.
Steam:
With
a nebulizer, the accumulated cough is removed. If you do not have one at home,
you can bathe your child in warm water or wipe his/her body properly with wet
towel and then with dry one.
Soup:
You
can prepare soup from potato, carrot, onion, ginger so that the baby can eat
easily as he/she reaches over six months. This food will not only diminish the
infections if any but also fill his/her stomach. You can also give your child
to drink tea with basil. You can also add two spoonfuls of honey that may work
as antimicrobial.
Clearing the nose:
Flux
getting accumulated inside the nose causing problems to the child’s breathing.
So, the baby’s nose must be kept clear. You can use a special kind of dropper
for it. Saline can be a good alternative to dropper. Put some saline into the
dropper and douse the saline into the baby’s nose. After some time, flux will
come out. Clean it with a cotton bud.
Wearing loose
clothing:
Do
not allow your child to stay clothed for too long during fever. Try to loosen
his/her clothing a little. Little clothing will not increase his/her body temperatures
but decrease it. If he/she feels cold, get him/her blanket or quilt.
Allowing the baby
under fan:
Many
parents remove their babies from under the fan thinking that it will raise
their body temperature. But, it decreases the temperature. However, do not
allow your baby under the fan for too long. Allow the fan to run at a little
speed and keep your baby underneath.
Do
not smoke while having your baby in arms. Also, do not continue cooking with
the baby in arms. Any kind of smoke is harmful. Use the exhausted fan if
necessary while cooking. Those who are suffering from cold or flu should not
take the baby in arms or caress him/her. Get your baby vaccine for pneumonia if
possible.
