Diapering Tips: How To Keep Your Baby Clean And Comfortable
A usual activity, diapering not only saves
working women time but also clothes from being dirty. However, rashes caused by
wearing diapers are uncomfortable and irritating. Although diapering your baby
may seem troublesome at the beginning, the task gradually becomes easier.
Parents or caregivers should have proper knowledge about diapering a baby.
Choose quality diapers:
While choosing diapers for your baby, you
should consider if the diapers are highly absorbent, comfortable and leak proof.
Things to do while diapering:
·
Do not put
diaper on your baby too tightly lest he/she should feel uncomfortable.
·
Change a diaper
if it is in use for six hours.
·
Remove feces or
stool as soon as possible.
·
If rashes are
visible when changing the diaper, leave your bay without any diaper and apply
antiseptic or diaper cream to the affected areas.
Tips to clean the body of your baby:
Be careful as much as required while
changing diapers. You can use a piece of wet cloth, cotton balls or baby wipes
so that you can clean the lower parts of the baby’s body. Make sure you start
wiping from the front to the rear. Do not start cleaning from the rear to the front
because this way might lead to Bacteria infection or urinary infection, especially
in baby girls. Do the wiping from the heel to the thigh by holding the heel
vertically. Take special care for the knees and beneath and the creases of
buttocks. After finishing the wiping, dry up the baby’s body with clean towel.
Then, apply diaper ointment or moisturizing baby lotion.
Some more tips to remember:
·
Dirty diapers
are not only stinky but also a source of Bacteria and germ. Get rid of used
diapers at least once a day.
·
Instead of
inflexible diapers that may cause scars, use soft and moderately loose diapers
to give your baby required comfort.
·
If blisters are
visible on the baby’s waist or legs, stop diapering for a few days.
·
If the baby’s
umbilical stump is yet to fall off, you should have the diaper’s part folded
right on that area so that the umbilical stump gets dried fast. Continue
diapering this way for a few more days after the umbilical stump falls off.
·
While diapering
your baby boy, place his penis at a low direction inside the diaper in order to
prevent any kind of liquids from coming upward.
·
To prevent
germs from spreading, you should wash your hands properly after changing
diapers.
Conclusion:
Since parents are responsible for the care
of their babies, you should always be sincere to choose the best quality and
comfortable diapers for your baby in lieu of the cheap ones.
